What clean energy upgrades can I compare?
You can combine solar panels, an electric vehicle, a heat pump, a heat pump water heater, and a home battery in any combination, then compare each scenario's estimated upfront cost and 25-year operating savings side by side. All scenarios use the same stored state electricity rate and the assumptions shown above the inputs.
How are the savings calculated?
This is a fixed-input additive comparison using a stored state-average electricity rate and explicit equipment and usage assumptions. It does not forecast tariffs or model hourly energy sharing. Read the assumptions above the inputs; negative operating savings are retained.
Can I compare more than two scenarios at once?
Yes — you can build and compare up to five named scenarios side by side, each with a different combination of clean energy upgrades. Press Compare Scenarios after editing the assumptions or selected upgrades.
Does this include federal tax credits and incentives?
The calculator does not apply the expired Section 25D residential solar credit, Section 25C home-improvement credit, or Section 30D EV purchase credit. It also does not assume a lease or PPA qualifies for the Section 48E business credit because current IRS restrictions make eligibility contract- and project-specific. State and local programs vary.
